Former National Boxing Champion and England Coach, Rachel Bower, supports the BRIT Ambassador family

We are delighted that Rachel is part of our BRIT Ambassador family to support and improve young adult mental health throughout the UK.

Rachel is a former National Boxing Champion and England representative. After ten years of competing she turned her hand to coaching and has quickly worked her way up to become an England Talent Pathway Coach while still volunteering with Rathbone Amateur Boxing Club. Rachel is also on the England Boxing Coaching Sub-Committee and the Advisory Board of BOXWISE. She also teaches recreational boxing at Rathbone Boxing Club.

Rachel Bower - Former National Boxing Champion and England Coach

"Working with young adults as an England Coach, and at various London based Amateur boxing clubs and with the Prince’s Trust, I understand many of the mental health challenges that young adults are trying to cope with. We must do everything we can to help young adults and students now in order to avoid them experiencing long-term mental health difficulties; particularly those groups in our society who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, including those on a low income, people with an existing mental health condition; children and young adults and people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.

It is so important for young adults and students to have access to professional support services if they need them and BRIT are doing all they can to collaborate with, and champion, charities providing these vital services.

BRIT are supporting and improving the mental health and fitness of young adults and students throughout the UK by delivering their annual BRIT Challenge; a feel-good February fundraiser for every university, college, specialist college and Students’ Union to enter teams and encourage student and staff participation. The BRIT Challenge is inclusive and has been designed so that young students and staff of all abilities can take part. It’s great to see that every university and college team can choose a second charity to raise funds for, alongside BRIT, to support local, regional and national charities.

I am delighted to be part of the BRIT Ambassador family and uniting with Olympians, Paralympians, Sports Personalities, Adventurers and Explorers, to promote the BRIT Challenge in universities and colleges of our choice, destigmatising mental health and championing equality, diversity and inclusion. I urge my fellow current and retired British Boxers to join me as us as there has never been a more important time to support young adult mental health.

I look forward to supporting and encouraging students and staff at University College London to take on the BRIT Challenge .”
